Microsoft Implements Unified Communications Solution in Jordan

Microsoft in partnership with PAIS has implemented a unified communications solution in the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) of Jordan.  The implementation will see the GAM realising cast savings in time spent on public sector projects and communication. The solution will allow 35 employees of the municipality to communicate via text and messages, audio visually through video, internet, or their own telephone sets.

“This project was launched and consequently implemented two months ago; most departments and high-ranking officials of GAM are using it, said Mohammad Al Qatarneh, the Chief of the Technical Follow Up and Development Section, Engineer at PAIS. They project team also said, the Microsoft unified communications services will reduce travel cost by 45 per cent and telephone and telephone communication cost by 35 per cent. This project is also the first and biggest in unified communications services project to be applied in Jordan.

“Owing to the ramifications of the world economic crisis on public expenses, GAM, with its huge number of employees, has sought after finding a solution to the travel and the soaring communications costs. Here comes the role of the unified communications from Microsoft, which provides GAM with the possibility of reducing travel and telephone cost considerably, let alone cutting on paper work expenses. The new service also enhances internal communications, and provides wider spaces of cooperation and coordination within the Municipality,” said Director of Public Sector Development Project at Microsoft Jordan, Othman Bani Ahmad.
